Rising alt-indie star Rachel Chinouriri has officially announced her highly anticipated new album, I Think I Spoke Too Soon. The project, which follows her critically acclaimed 2024 debut What A Devastating Turn of Events, is scheduled for release on October 16 via Parlophone and Atlas Artists.
To celebrate the announcement, Chinouriri has unveiled the lead single, “One Song Away From Crying.” The track is a synthpop-infused, reflective anthem that captures the specific, vulnerable moment on a dancefloor when one realizes they have “never looked better” but “never felt worse.”
A New Chapter of Self-Reflection
“‘One song away from crying’ is about the precipice of a night out where you know you need to leave and have to make a decision,” Chinouriri explained. “It’s a deeper decision because it’s less about the night itself but more about a reflection of a deeper internal conflict with your self-value that you haven’t looked at yet.”
Recorded across London, Hereford, and Los Angeles, the album serves as an expansion of her unique sound. The singer noted that the record explores themes of starting over, aligning one's thoughts with their actions, and practicing patience and self-forgiveness. “My core thing is you can change who you are at any moment and you can forgive yourself at any moment,” she shared. “And I think forgiving yourself is the first step in becoming a better person.”
Global Tour Dates
Alongside the album news, Chinouriri has confirmed a new run of headline tour dates. The tour kicks off in Los Angeles on August 26, with subsequent stops in Dublin, London, Brussels, Paris, and Amsterdam throughout September. The artist is also set to perform at the inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Festival in California next month, alongside artists such as Chappell Roan and Olivia Rodrigo, and will support Gracie Abrams on her US tour later this year.
