Bret Michaels has officially cancelled all of his planned solo tour dates to ensure a full recovery from recent surgery. The decision comes after the Poison frontman attempted a return to the stage, only to be advised by medical professionals that further rest is essential for his long-term health.
Back in June, the singer performed three live shows in the US while battling what he described as "intense" pain caused by a kidney stone. Following his final performance in Washington, he was rushed to the hospital for an emergency procedure to remove the stone and have a ureteral stent placed. While he initially expressed optimism about returning to the road, his physicians have now mandated a significant break.
"Following Bret Michaels’ comeback show, doctors and paramedics determined immediately after the show that he still needs additional rest and recovery from his recent surgeries," a statement shared on Instagram confirmed. "Bret will be taking the next several months off to heal and get back to 100 per cent."
His medical team emphasized that the physical demands of touring, particularly during the summer months, posed a risk to his recovery, noting the impact of heat and humidity on his blood sugar levels. Michaels, who has been transparent about his health journey, expressed gratitude for the support of his fans, family, and medical staff during this challenging time.
The cancellation affects the remainder of his 2026 ‘Bret Michaels Live And Amplified’ tour, which included scheduled stops in Texas, Ohio, Vancouver, and Minnesota. The singer, who is also preparing for the release of his upcoming biopic and biography Unbroken: Then, Now and Forever, remains focused on his recovery. Earlier this summer, Michaels made headlines for his decision to withdraw from a performance at the Freedom 250 celebration, citing that the event had evolved into something "more divisive" than he had originally agreed to support.
