Fire Country actress Leven Rambin recently shared a harrowing health update, revealing that she “almost died” following a routine medical procedure earlier this month. The 36-year-old star, known for her role as Audrey James on the hit CBS series, spent four nights in a hospital’s intensive care unit after complications arose from an endometriosis surgery.
On July 11, Rambin took to social media to inform fans about her hospitalization. According to the Mayo Clinic, endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it, often causing significant pain. While the surgery was intended to alleviate these issues, the situation took a dangerous turn.
On July 12, the actress explained that a surgical error resulted in a laceration to her main artery. Doctors were forced to perform emergency surgery to repair the nicked aorta and provide a blood transfusion. “Going in for the endometriosis diagnostic and removal, and coming out with a NICKED AORTA, emergency surgery and a scar the size of my forearm was not on the bingo card,” she wrote on Instagram. “The road to recovery will be long but I am determined to heal and start my family.”
Rambin has been vocal about the challenges women face when seeking answers for chronic health issues, pain, and infertility, noting that the experience was “no joke.” Due to the severity of her recovery, she also confirmed that she had to withdraw from an upcoming project with Netflix.
Despite the trauma of the event, the actress remains optimistic about her progress. She noted that her healing process is going well and that she is taking things “one day at a time” while continuing to receive follow-up care. Beyond her work on Fire Country, Rambin has built an extensive career with roles in major productions such as The Hunger Games, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Grey's Anatomy, and True Detective.
