(G)I-DLE’s Yuqi drops tracklist for solo debut mini-album ‘YUQ1’, featuring bandmate Minnie, pH-1 and more

(G)I-DLE vocalist Yuqi has unveiled the official tracklist for her upcoming solo debut ‘YUQ1’, featuring bandmate Minnie, rapper pH-1 and more.

The tracklist was shared to (G)I-DLE’s official social media channels earlier today (April 8) at midnight KST, revealing that the upcoming mini-album will feature seven tracks in total, led by title track and opener ‘Freak’. The song credits Yuqi as a co-lyricist and -composer.

Meanwhile, the tracklist also boasts several features to be included in the mini-album. Veteran rapper pH-1 lends his vocals, composition and lyrics to ‘Drink It Up’, while (G)I-DLE bandmate Minnie joins Yuqi on ‘Everytime’.

Meanwhile, Chinese musician Lexie Liu, known for her participation on survival series K-pop Star 5 and her successful run as third runner-up on Chinese show The Rap of China, will feature on ‘On Clap’. The full record is due out on April 23 at 6pm KST.

According to the tracklist, Yuqi has been involved in the writing and production for four out of seven songs on her solo debut mini-album. This doesn’t include closing track ‘Could It Be’, which was also released last week on April 5 as a pre-release single for the album.

Although ‘YUQ1’ is being billed as Yuqi’s solo debut due to it being performed and promoted in Korea, it will not be the first time she has pursued solo music. The singer spent majority of 2021 promoting as a solo musician in China, with the release of the single album A Page. That record notably included the title tracks ‘Giant’ and ‘Bonnie & Clyde’.

She was also a contestant on Chinese music survival show Stage Boom and contributed ‘Salute to the Heroes’ to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games as its theme song.

Yuqi’s Korean solo debut is set to make her the third member of (G)I-DLE to do so. Leader Soyeon made a solo debut prior to joining the band in 2017, while bandmate Miyeon released her first solo record in 2022.

The band – completed by Minnie and Shuhua – most recently released their second studio album ‘[2]’ early last month, featuring title track ‘Super Lady’. The record also includes pre-release single ‘Wife’. Shortly after the full album’s release, (G)I-DLE also dropped a music video for B-side track ‘Revenge’.
