Liam Gallagher Changes His Tune on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction

In 2024, following the announcement that Oasis was nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Liam Gallagher was characteristically blunt. He took to social media to declare, “F*ck the Rock n Roll hall of fame,” further dismissing the honor as a “wank award by some geriatric in a cowboy hat.” When the band received a second nomination in 2025, his stance remained unchanged, with the singer reiterating that the institution was “for WANKERS.”

At the time, Gallagher offered a tongue-in-cheek concession, suggesting that if the band were ever actually inducted, he would “Obv go and say it’s the best thing EVER.” While that year passed without an induction, the 2026 class has officially confirmed the inclusion of the legendary Britpop icons, alongside other notable acts like Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan.

As it turns out, Gallagher’s previous joke proved prophetic. Following the official announcement, he shared a much warmer sentiment on social media:

“I wanna thank all the people who voted for us it’s a real honour ever since I was a little kid and singing in the shower I’d dream about 1 day being in the RnR hall of fame it’s true what they say anything is possible if you have a dream LG x.”

When pressed by followers regarding his sudden shift in perspective, Gallagher credited a surprising source of influence: his mother. He explained, “Well I was speaking to my mummy last night when the news broke and she thinks I may have been a little hasty with my perception of the organization she’s told me to stop being a dick and go to the awards and behave and you never know you might enjoy it.”

When another user pointed out his previous disparaging remarks about the organization, Gallagher offered a characteristically dry, final word: “It was until last night.” The induction ceremony is scheduled for November 14, with a broadcast set to air on ABC and Disney+ this December.
