Madonna Cancels Paris Concert After Falling on Stage

Madonna may be larger than life, but she’s human too. The superstar announced on Sunday (March 1) that she had to cancel that evening’s Paris show of her Madame X tour due to an injury she sustained during a concert a few nights prior.

“Here I Am——Flesh and Blood. If only knees didn’t twist and cartilage didn’t tear and nothing hurt and tears never fell out of our eyes,” she began in a lengthy Instagram post explaining the cancellation to fans. “But alas they do.”

Madonna -- who has experienced several injuries during the tour thus far -- went on to explain how she got hurt this time. “I Fell 2 nights ago on stage when a chair was literally pulled out from underneath me by mistake and I landed on the floor on my tail bone,” she said. “I made it thru the show last night but just barely because I hate disappointing. However today even I can see that this broken doll held together with tape and glue, needs to stay in bed and rest for a few days so she can finish the tour with a smile on her face and in one piece.”

The seven-time Grammy winner concluded her note: “Thank You for your understanding Paris!”

Though the 61-year-old noted in her message that she needs to rest “for a few days,” there has been no word yet on whether the rest of her shows at Paris’ Le Grand Rex -- which are scheduled for March 3 through 11th -- will be impacted. Prior to Sunday’s cancellation, Madonna also had to nix her Jan. 22 and 27 shows, as well as a few others in 2019, due to injuries.

“As you all know I have injuries that have plagued me since the beginning of the tour but I must always listen to my body and put my health first,” the singer wrote in a message to fans on her website Jan. 25. “The last thing I want to do is disappoint my fans or compromise the integrity of my show. So I will keep going until I cannot.”
