Mick Jagger has confirmed his desire to get back on the road with The Rolling Stones, expressing that he “can’t wait” to perform live again. The legendary frontman shared his optimism during a recent appearance on BBC Radio 2’s Tracks of My Years, where he discussed the band’s future touring prospects.
While fans are eager to see the rock icons return to the stage, Jagger was quick to manage expectations regarding the immediate timeline. “I’d love to go on tour, I can’t wait,” he stated, before clarifying, “I don’t think it’s going to be this year. But hopefully it’s going to be as soon as possible.”
The band is currently preparing for the July 10 release of their 25th studio album, Foreign Tongues, via Polydor/Universal Music. The upcoming record is highly anticipated, featuring a star-studded list of guest appearances including Paul McCartney, Robert Smith, Steve Winwood, and the late Charlie Watts.
The conversation regarding touring comes after a period of uncertainty for the group. In late 2025, the band confirmed they had scrapped plans for a UK and European stadium tour for 2026, citing Keith Richards' inability to commit to the schedule at that time. However, recent hints from Richards suggest that a return to the road in 2027 remains a distinct possibility.
Jagger also reflected on the creative process behind the new album, which was recorded in less than a month at Metropolis Studios in West London. “I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis,” Jagger said. “It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”
As the band gears up for the release of Foreign Tongues, which includes tracks like “Rough And Twisted” and “In The Stars,” the focus remains on the music. For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement regarding when they can catch Mick Jagger and the rest of the band live on stage.
