The Sistas family is growing. Nzinga Imani, the talented actress who portrays Angela on the popular Tyler Perry series, has officially announced that she is pregnant. This marks a significant new chapter for the performer, who is expecting her first child with her longtime partner, K. Lindo.
In an exclusive conversation regarding her transition into motherhood, Imani described the experience as embarking on her most important role to date. “I’ve always wanted to be a mother,” she shared, noting that stepping into this season of life feels both grounding and deeply exciting. As she prepares for the arrival of her child, she is focusing on mental wellness, intentionally releasing the pressure of perfection, and seeking wisdom from the women she trusts most.
Imani is also taking this time to reflect on her own upbringing, strengthening her prayer practice, and cultivating a mindful, positive environment for her growing family. She remains steadfast in her belief that motherhood and a thriving career are not mutually exclusive. By expanding her work as a content creator and model, she continues to challenge traditional timelines for success.
“There is no single timeline or definition for womanhood, success, or motherhood,” she explained. “You can build your dreams, heal, grow, love, and still step into motherhood without feeling like you have to choose one version of yourself over another.” In addition to her acting and modeling, Imani is a singer who recently released the single “Drown” and is currently working on an upcoming EP.
Ultimately, Imani is motivated by the legacy she hopes to leave for her child. “I feel empowered by the idea that my child will grow up seeing a mother who is passionate, creative, and unapologetic about her dreams,” she said. “That example matters to me.”
Reflecting on her relationship, she noted that the pregnancy has brought a new depth to her partnership. “There’s a new level of softness, patience, and partnership that has naturally shown up. You start realizing that you’re no longer just building a relationship, you’re building a family, a legacy, a safe space for someone who will be watching and learning from how you love.”
