Due to phenomenal demand, Genesis have added extra dates to The Last Domino? reunion tour. Earlier this week, the reunited group announced ten dates in the UK and Ireland in late 2020. Now, they’ve added extra shows in Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow, totaling 16 shows in November and December.
The trek kicks off November 16th at Dublin’s 3 Arena and wraps December 12th in Glasgow’s SSE Arena. Tickets for most shows are now on sale.
This is the first time in 13 years the band has performed together following their Turn It On Again Tour in 2007. The new lineup features classic-era members Phil Collins on vocals, guitarist Mike Rutherford and keyboardist Tony Banks with touring guitarist/bassist Daryl Stuermer and Phil’s son Nic Collins on drums, for the first time. Original vocalist Peter Gabriel will not participate.
A Genesis lineup didn’t seem likely a few years ago as Collins was retired and couldn’t play drums due to extensive nerve damage.
“For me, it was something that was working and it was a problem we had to overcome, although I’ll be doing my best to play some bits on the tour. I’ve been working out what songs to play, but Tony and Mike came to the shows at the Albert Hall and both were taken with the way he understood what was needed,” Collins stated earlier this week.
He continues, “He plays a bit like me when he wants to. I’m one of his many influences, being his dad. He plays like me and he kinda has the same attitude as me, so that was a good starter.”
In 2015, Collins announced he was un-retiring and hitting the road. He began performing solo shows in 2017 with his son Nic on drums while he sang from a chair.
