Montreal-based DJ and producer Ian Kaizen joins EG Spotlight for its 343rd installment, delivering a one-hour session shaped by tension, movement, and release. This EG Spotlight session highlights the artist's ability to navigate between heavier club moments, melodic passages, and quieter, introspective sections, allowing the energy to develop organically throughout the recording.
Rather than adhering to a single, rigid musical direction, Kaizen explores the contrasts in atmosphere and intensity. His own production, ‘Nelson Bridge’, makes a notable appearance toward the end of the set, offering listeners a clear perspective on the creative ideas currently informing his studio work and live DJ performances.
The tracklist is a testament to Kaizen's eclectic ear, featuring music from a diverse array of artists including Crowd Control, Nikola Sy, Snirco, Amour Propre, KIMONOS, Yamagucci, Mary Jane US, Broken Hill, and Omri. The selection further expands to include contributions from Franc Fala, Benja (NL), TWOLATE (ITA), Harry Kaze, KREAM, Korolova, Argy, ØSHER, Ovadia, Chris Luno, and RÜFÜS DU SOL, among others.
The recording maintains a consistent sense of progression, with each section introducing new textures while preserving the mix's underlying rhythm. Listen to EG SPOTLIGHT.343 Ian Kaizen below.
