Phoebe Bridgers will premiere her new album Lost Weekend by playing it in planetariums worldwide alongside custom-made visual displays. The indie icon and Boygenius member is set to release her long-awaited third solo record next Friday (August 14) via Dead Oceans. It serves as the follow-up to 2020’s Punisher and has already been previewed by the lead single, Lost Boys.
Bridgers has confirmed that fans can listen to the album in full at planetariums around the world, with each session featuring a specially designed visual accompaniment. Beginning Monday, August 10, the shows are part of a partnership with Spotify. Attendees will experience one of two original visual displays: a custom dome show designed by renowned night-sky photographer Babak Tafreshi or a unique immersive laser show created by Laser Fantasy.

Aiming to turn the album into a shared sonic and visual experience, 44 planetariums are participating, including 35 locations across the US. International shows are scheduled in Switzerland, France, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand. To maintain the integrity of the experience, all showings will be phone and camera-free, with visitors required to place devices in Yondr pouches upon arrival.
A Global Listening Experience
The tracklist for Lost Weekend includes contributions from Boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, as well as Christian Lee Hutson and Jack Antonoff. Bridgers recently performed two versions of the lead single on The Tonight Show and has confirmed a tour across North America, the UK, and Europe later this year to celebrate the release. Support for the North American dates will come from Alex G, while Isaac Wood will support the UK and European shows.
In addition to the planetarium events, Bridgers will host an exclusive listening event for top fans on Spotify in New Jersey. Furthermore, over 300 midnight album release parties are scheduled worldwide for August 13, allowing fans to experience the record collectively for the first time.
