The Wiggles Admit They Are Unfamiliar With Oasis: "Controversially, I Like Blur More"

The Wiggles have revealed that they aren’t familiar with the legendary British rock band Oasis, with members even admitting that they “controversially” prefer their 90s rivals, Blur.

The Australian children’s music icons made an appearance on Nova 96.9’s Ricki-Lee & Tim radio show to promote their new track, ‘Sparkle’. During the segment, the group put their musical knowledge to the test by attempting to identify snippets of famous songs.

When a segment of the 1995 Oasis classic ‘Wonderwall’ played, members Anthony Field and Lucia Field—the father-daughter duo currently performing as the Blue Wiggles—were unable to identify the track. Lucia candidly admitted she didn’t recognize the song, adding: “Controversially, I like Blur more… that is why I have no idea.”

Her comments reference the historic rivalry between Oasis and Blur that defined the Britpop era of the 1990s. The tension famously peaked in the summer of 1995 during the “Battle of Britpop,” when both bands vied for the top spot on the charts with their respective singles, ‘Country House’ and ‘Roll With It’.

Anthony Field later revealed that his lack of familiarity with the band had previously led to an embarrassing mix-up. He recalled a trip to Abbey Road Studios with his son, where he attempted to purchase a souvenir. “I bought him what I thought was a Paul McCartney and John Lennon poster and he said, ‘They’re the guys from Oasis’… I am so out of touch, mate,” he admitted.

The revelation comes as Liam Gallagher continues to make headlines, recently fueling rumors of a potential Oasis tour in 2027 and continuing his collaborative work with John Squire. Meanwhile, the band is set to be inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall Of Fame later this year, following the massive success of their ‘Live ‘25’ reunion tour.
