Alexandra Kay Opens Up About CMA Awards Snub and Career Resilience

Country music star Alexandra Kay is speaking out about her disappointment after learning she did not receive any nominations for this year's CMA Awards. While the singer admitted she did not necessarily expect to see her name on the list, the reality of the exclusion still proved to be a difficult moment in her professional journey.

Reflecting on the news, Kay expressed her frustration regarding the effort she has poured into her craft. "I just found out that I didn’t get nominated for a CMA Award," she shared. "I worked my a** off for every single chart position." Her single, "Straight For The Heart," notably reached the 26th spot on the country charts over the past year, a milestone that made the lack of recognition feel particularly stinging.

The 35-year-old musician, who recently released her studio album Second Wind and signed with BBR Music Group in early 2025, noted that the news felt similar to the recent disappointment of being told her label would no longer be promoting her music. "When they called me a few weeks ago and told me, ‘We’re done. We’re not pushing the song anymore. It’s not moving up the chart anymore,’ I was devastated," she recalled.

Despite these setbacks, Kay is choosing to focus on resilience rather than dwelling on the negative. Emphasizing the importance of a quick recovery, she noted, "It’s not about how many times you fall. It’s about how many times you get up. Successful people, resilient people, they don’t have fewer problems. They just have a quicker recovery time."

Kay is currently channeling that energy into her live performances. With a busy tour schedule continuing through the fall, she remains focused on her connection with fans, including a highly anticipated performance at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry.
