Country music legend Wynonna Judd is opening up about the profound personal pain surrounding her estrangement from her daughter, Grace Kelley. In a candid interview, the singer expressed that she is "heartbroken" over the fractured relationship, which has been severely impacted by Kelley’s ongoing battle with drug addiction.
"I miss her. I miss her desperately, and I’ve missed out on a lot of years because of the drug addiction," Judd shared. The singer revealed the immense emotional and financial toll the situation has taken, noting, "I’ve spent half a million dollars on programs trying to do the right thing, trying to do the next right thing."
Judd, who is currently raising Kelley's 4-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Kaliyah, after legally adopting her, spoke openly about the harsh realities of supporting a family member through substance abuse. "As a mother of an addict, I can tell you this: When the money stops, they usually cut you off because there’s no more money," she explained. "And I’ve done everything I can do."
Kelley has faced significant legal challenges throughout 2024, including multiple arrests and a recent 15-month sentence for driving with a suspended or revoked license. The situation has been further complicated by a lack of direct communication; Judd revealed she even learned of her daughter's recent pregnancy through social media. "I learned about it on TikTok," Judd said. "I’m heartbroken, and she cut me off a year ago. I’m walking a very interesting walk right now, where I absolutely know very little."
Despite the darkness of the situation, Judd finds solace in her music and her faith, noting that her songs often emerge from these difficult experiences. "Meth is a b—. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, and I just can’t believe it. But these songs come from that dark place, deep and dark…. And you think you can’t make it, but you somehow do by the grace of God."
