Dean Cain Hospitalized Following Hernia Surgery

60-year-old Superman actor Dean Cain is currently recovering after recently being hospitalized for a medical procedure. The actor shared the news with his followers during the early morning hours of Thursday, posting an update to his Instagram account regarding his health status.

In the post, which featured a photo of himself in a hospital bed hooked up to monitoring equipment with his son by his side, Cain confirmed the nature of his stay. "Hernia repair surgery complete! Thank you God for my skilled surgeon, nurses, and anesthesiologist! With my son right by my side!" he wrote. The update has since garnered significant support, with nearly 10,000 likes and hundreds of well-wishes from fans hoping for a swift recovery for the former star of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.

The surgery comes just over a week after a busy professional period for the actor. Cain recently co-hosted the Million Dollar Pitch Competition alongside Nicki Minaj, an event organized by the Small Business Administration (SBA). The competition provided five entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their business models in a high-stakes format for a chance to win a portion of a $1 million prize pool.

Beyond his recent hosting duties, Cain has maintained a consistent presence in the entertainment industry. In 2025, he directed and appeared in the film Little Angels, marking his 25th consecutive year of being cast in at least one feature film. While he is best known for his iconic portrayal of Superman alongside Teri Hatcher—a series that enjoyed a successful four-season, 88-episode run on ABC—Cain’s background is diverse. Before his acting career took off, he was a standout safety for Princeton University and even participated in training camp with the NFL's Buffalo Bills.
