Polymarket Traders Bet Against Jimmy Kimmel's Departure

Jimmy Kimmel is not going anywhere, at least not this week. Following a highly contentious year for the veteran late-night host, speculation regarding his future at ABC has been a frequent topic of conversation. However, those placing bets on the outcome are signaling high confidence in his job security.

In the prediction market titled "Jimmy Kimmel fired/resigns by May 31?," Polymarket traders currently estimate a mere 1% chance of the 58-year-old host losing his position before the end of the month. Despite being temporarily removed from the airwaves last year amid political controversy, the odds remain firmly in his favor.

The stability of his position is largely attributed to a contract extension secured in late 2025. Bloomberg reported that Jimmy Kimmel signed a one-year extension with ABC, ensuring that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will remain on the air through at least May 2027. This development followed a period of significant professional turbulence, which included a brief suspension in September after comments regarding the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Reflecting on that period of uncertainty, the host admitted to Stephen Colbert—whose own program, The Late Show, was canceled by CBS earlier this year—that he initially feared his career at the network had reached its conclusion. "I thought that it's over. I was like, 'I'm never coming back on the air,'" he shared during their conversation in September.

While his future was once in doubt due to the original May 2026 expiration of his contract, the recent extension appears to have provided a necessary buffer against the persistent calls for his termination from various political critics. For now, the data suggests that the host will continue his tenure at ABC without interruption.
