Ice Spice is the star of Wendy’s new commercial, a strategic move following her recent viral McDonald’s fight video.
Last month, CCTV footage surfaced showing the Bronx rapper in an intense confrontation with a member of the public while sitting in a McDonald’s in Los Angeles. The clip quickly circulated across social media platforms.
The incident occurred on April 15, with the video depicting Ice Spice and a friend being approached by a woman who attempted to join their booth. The interaction escalated when the woman reached out to strike the rapper, leading to a physical scuffle that saw Ice Spice climbing over neighboring booths to follow the woman outside.
Following the incident, Ice Spice—who famously worked at the competing fast-food chain Wendy’s before her music career took off—addressed the situation with humor. She shared an edited version of the footage on X, captioning it: “This wouldn’t happen at Wendy’s.”
She has now transformed the viral moment into a commercial opportunity, starring in a new Wendy’s advertisement promoting their spicy chicken sandwich, which debuted on May 1. In the clip, she remarks, “I heard Wendy’s upgraded their OG spicy chicken sandwich. New spicy?!” She also adopts the moniker ‘Ice Spicy’ for the campaign, complete with a new chain to match the persona.
While the rapper has leaned into the marketing potential of the situation, her legal team is taking the initial incident seriously. Attorney Bradford Cohen stated: “The unprovoked attack on my client has been reported to the LAPD and we will be pursuing any and all avenues to hold the perpetrators responsible for their actions, including criminally and civilly.”
Cohen added that they are also investigating potential liability regarding the restaurant's security measures. In other news, Ice Spice remains in the spotlight following past tensions, including a leaked phone call from last October in which Cardi B made disparaging remarks about the rapper.
