Berlin-based producer Parra for Cuva has officially unveiled his sixth studio album, 'Nacar.' This 12-track collection arrives as the successor to his acclaimed LP, 'Mimose,' and showcases a sophisticated evolution in his signature sound, which masterfully bridges the gap between ambient electronica and organic house.
The creation of 'Nacar' was a nomadic endeavor. Composed primarily while on tour, the album features recording sessions captured in mobile studios across Mexico, Japan, and Italy. This geographic diversity is woven into the fabric of the music, with field recordings from Costa Rica providing a lush, atmospheric backdrop to the final arrangements. The result is a project that balances intimate, solo compositions with expansive, collaborative works.
The album boasts an impressive roster of collaborators, including Nathan Ball, orbit, CRi, PALLADIAN, Aukai, Vines, Vraell, and Cile. These partnerships help push the project into new territories, moving fluidly between organic downtempo rhythms and more driving, club-oriented structures.
Standout singles such as 'Selva, Selva' and 'Juri' serve as prime examples of the artist's refined use of live percussion and traditional instrumentation. Meanwhile, tracks like 'Cold Heart' and 'Too Close to Echo' demonstrate a shift toward faster, more energetic tempos, while the title track, 'Nacar,' leans into a more cinematic approach, utilizing delicate strings and ritualistic samples.
