Slam Dunk Festival has confirmed that one of its directors will be stepping down from all operational duties following a series of allegations that surfaced online. The festival organizers addressed the situation in a statement released on social media this past Friday (April 24).
While the festival did not disclose specific details regarding the nature of the allegations or the identity of the individual involved, they emphasized the gravity of the situation. “We are aware of allegations published yesterday relating to one of our directors,” the statement read. “We take these allegations seriously and understand that they may be distressing and hard to process for our community.”
The organization reiterated its commitment to the safety and well-being of its attendees and staff. “Our Slam Dunk fans, staff, and artists are, as always, our top priority. While he strongly refutes these allegations, the director in question has agreed, in consultation with the board, to step down from Slam Dunk operations while this matter is ongoing.”
The festival noted that it is currently treating the situation as an active legal matter, making it inappropriate to provide further commentary at this time. However, organizers pledged to maintain transparency with their community and promised to share updates as the situation develops.
The allegations reportedly emerged after a woman shared claims on Instagram and other platforms, accompanied by screenshots of an alleged conversation. The individual who made the claims later stated that she had been advised by police to remove the posts, noting that she was complying with those instructions despite her reluctance.
Slam Dunk Festival is currently preparing for its 20th-anniversary celebrations, scheduled to take place at Hatfield Park in Hertfordshire on May 23 and Temple Newsam in Leeds on May 24. The event has already confirmed a significant lineup, including headliners Good Charlotte, alongside performances from artists such as Sublime, Knocked Loose, Boston Manor, and State Champs.
As the festival approaches, fans have expressed concern regarding the potential impact on the scheduled performances, though no artists have withdrawn from the lineup at the time of writing.
